Privacy Policy

A cozy studio should be a trustworthy one. Here's our farm journal on how we treat your information, with a plain-language note beside each entry.

1. Hello, we're Maple Otter Studio

Maple Otter Studio is a small independent studio that makes cozy farming, cooking and life-sim games: Hollowbrook Acres, Simmer & Sprig, Emberwick Isle (in development) and Pocket Pumpkin Patch. This policy explains how we handle information on this website and in our games.

Questions about privacy? Write to [email protected] and a real person on the team will reply.

2. What goes in the pantry (what we collect)

On this website: we don't run accounts, ads or tracking cookies here. Like any website, the server that delivers pages may record standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, which help us keep the site running and secure.

In our games: depending on the game and platform, we may receive:

  • Information you send us directly, such as emails, bug reports, playtest sign-ups or newsletter sign-ups.
  • Basic gameplay and crash data, like which version you're running, device type and error reports, so we can fix bugs.
  • Cloud save data if you use a platform's cloud saves (e.g. on Steam or Switch, handled by that platform).
  • Purchase confirmations for in-app items in Simmer & Sprig and Pocket Pumpkin Patch on mobile. Payments are processed by the app store; we never see your card details.
  • Seed-trading in Pocket Pumpkin Patch uses a random player ID and the display name you choose.

3. How we use it

  • To run our games and deliver what you bought.
  • To find and fix bugs and improve balance and performance.
  • To answer your messages and support requests.
  • To send our newsletter or playtest invitations, only if you asked for them. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • To keep our services safe and prevent cheating or abuse.

We don't use your information to build advertising profiles.

4. Sharing with neighbours (third parties)

We do not sell your personal data. Ever.

Our games are distributed through platforms like Steam, Nintendo Switch, the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those platforms handle your account, purchases and cloud saves under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read. If Pocket Pumpkin Patch shows optional ads, the ad provider may process device information under its own policy, and we'll describe any such choices in the game's settings.

We may also use trusted service providers (for example, hosting or email tools) that process data only on our behalf, and we may disclose information if required by law.

5. Little sprouts (children's privacy)

Our games are made to be friendly for all ages, but we don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country) without a parent's consent. Trading names in Pocket Pumpkin Patch are filtered, and you never need to give your real name to play.

If you're a parent or guardian and think your child has sent us personal information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

6. Your basket, your choice (your rights)

You can ask us to:

  • tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy;
  • correct anything that's wrong;
  • delete your information;
  • stop sending you emails.

Email [email protected]. We may need to confirm it's really you. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law, and you can contact your local data protection authority.

7. How long we keep things

We keep information only as long as we need it:

  • Support emails: until your issue is resolved, plus a reasonable period in case it comes up again.
  • Crash and gameplay diagnostics: kept in a limited form and deleted or anonymised once they're no longer useful.
  • Newsletter addresses: until you unsubscribe.
  • Server logs: kept for a short time for security, then deleted.

Some records, like purchase confirmations, may be kept longer if the law requires it.

8. When the seasons change (policy updates)

We may update this policy when our games or the law change. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we'll let players know in-game or on our channels.
